While enjoying a bye week during his rookie NFL season with the San Diego Chargers, Tremayne Stephens had the opportunity to fly to Charleston, SC to watch his younger brother Travis play college football for The Citadel. Travis along with Brian Smith would tell Tremayne how those wet conditions would not allow he and his teammates to perform at their highest level due to drenched, heavy cleats and the health problems (athletes foot, etc) that went along with occasionally practicing and playing in wet conditions.
Tremayne knew at that exact moment that their had to be a solution to help athletes stay dry, perform at a high level, and reduce the risk of foot problems that are associated with damp, wet feet.
Wetnot, Inc was founded by former NFL running back, Tremayne Stephens and former linebacker from The Citadel, Brian Smith. Wetnot, Inc currently consists of a staff of many assistants, but the Wetnot Waterproof Cleat Cover was invented by Tremayne Stephens and Brian Smith at the conclusion of Tremayne's playing days with the North Carolina State Wolfpack, the San Diego Chargers, and the Indianapolis Colts. Tremayne Stephens also runs the Speed and Agility company, Athletic Development Systems.
